Clear aligners in Rockland, Maine
A series of clear, removable trays that move your teeth a little at a time. Nobody has to know you're wearing them, and they come out to eat.
What clear aligners can fix
Crowding, gaps, teeth that overlap or sit twisted, and the mild-to-moderate bite problems that come with them. One of the most common reasons people ask about aligners is that their teeth have quietly shifted back years after wearing braces as a teenager.
Aligners are not right for everything. Some bites need fixed braces or a specialist, and Dr. Basi will tell you that at the consultation rather than start something that won't get you where you want to go.

How treatment works
A handheld scanner builds an exact 3D model of your teeth in a few minutes. No putty, no gagging, nothing to send away and redo.
You see the projected movement before you commit to anything, along with how many trays it will take and roughly how long.
About 22 hours a day, swapped for the next set every week or two. Check-ins are short, and most are quick confirmations that things are on track.
Teeth drift back if nothing holds them. A retainer protects the result, and it is a great deal easier than treating the same thing twice.
Aligners or braces?
Aligners win on appearance and convenience: they come out for meals, for brushing, and for the photograph you did not know was being taken. Braces still have the edge on complex movements and on patients who will not reliably wear a removable tray.
The honest answer depends on your teeth, and you will get it at the consultation.
What it costs
Aligner treatment is quoted as one price in writing before it starts, including the retainer at the end. Many dental plans include an orthodontic benefit, and we file your claim for you.

Common questions about clear aligners
Do they hurt?
There is pressure and tenderness for a day or so after each new tray. Most people describe it as a reminder rather than pain, and it settles quickly.
Are aligners suitable for teenagers?
Often, yes, provided they will actually wear them. We will talk frankly with you and with them about whether that is realistic.
Will I need a retainer afterward?
Yes, and this is not optional. Teeth have a memory. A retainer holds the new position, and we will show you exactly how much to wear it.
How long does treatment take?
Most cases run six to eighteen months. Simple crowding or relapse can be faster; bigger movements take longer. You will get a realistic estimate before you start.
How many hours a day do I wear them?
About 22. They come out to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. Wearing them less than that is the single most common reason treatment runs long.
Can I eat and drink with them in?
Water yes, everything else no. Coffee and tea will stain the trays, and food gets trapped against your teeth. Take them out, then brush before putting them back.
