Veneers & esthetics in Rockland, Maine

A custom-made smile, designed and crafted for you alone — porcelain veneers, professional whitening, and small corrections that make a bigger difference than you would expect.

What we can change

Color that will not respond to whitening. Chips, worn edges and small fractures. Gaps between front teeth. Teeth that are uneven, short, or narrower than the ones beside them. An old restoration that no longer matches anything.

The design comes first. Dr. Basi looks at proportion, shade and how your teeth sit when you talk and when you smile, then builds toward a result that looks like you on a good day rather than like a set of teeth borrowed from someone else.

How it works

01
Consultation and design

Photographs, a digital scan and a conversation about what you actually want changed. Vague is fine to start with; the point of this visit is to make it specific.

02
Preview before you commit

You see the proposed shape and proportion before any preparation happens. Changes are easy at this stage and expensive later, so this is where we take our time.

03
Preparation and fitting

Veneers need only a very conservative reduction of enamel. You wear temporaries in the agreed shape while the final porcelain is crafted.

04
Keeping it looking right

Porcelain does not stain the way enamel does, but the teeth around it can. Regular hygiene visits and a night guard, if you grind, keep the result where it should be.

Veneers, whitening or bonding?

Whitening is the least invasive and often all that is needed. Bonding is quick and repairs a chip or closes a small gap in a single visit. Veneers are for changing shape, proportion and color together, permanently.

Most people arrive assuming they need veneers. A fair number leave with whitening and a bonding appointment, and are delighted.

What it costs

Cosmetic work is quoted per tooth in writing, after the design appointment, so you know the whole figure before anything starts.

Cosmetic treatment is rarely covered by insurance, which is exactly why the cost is settled up front. Cherry and CareCredit financing spread it over time. Fees and financing →

Common questions about veneers and whitening

How long does whitening last?

Typically a year or two, depending on coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco. Take-home trays let you top it up briefly rather than starting over.

Does whitening work on crowns and veneers?

No. Porcelain and composite do not change color. If you are planning both, whiten first, then match the new work to the lighter shade.

Will they look fake?

Not if the design is right. Porcelain can be layered to match the translucency of natural enamel, and proportion is chosen to suit your face rather than a template.

How many veneers would I need?

It depends on how wide your smile is when you smile fully. Sometimes it is two, often it is six to eight. You will know the number at the design appointment.

Do my teeth have to be filed down?

A small amount of enamel is reduced so the veneer sits flush rather than bulky. It is conservative, and it is done to the design you have already approved.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Well-made veneers, looked after, commonly last ten to fifteen years or more. Grinding is the main thing that shortens that, which is why a night guard is often part of the plan.
