Teeth cleaning & checkups in Rockland, Maine

Most dentistry is this: a thorough cleaning, a careful exam, and an honest conversation about what we see. Keep it up regularly and you'll head off most expensive problems before they start.

What a visit looks like

Your hygienist cleans above and below the gumline, measures gum health, and takes digital x-rays when your history calls for them. Then Dr. Basi examines every tooth, checks your bite and jaw, and screens for oral cancer. If something needs attention, he shows you — on the screen, in plain terms — and you decide together what happens next.

If it's been years since your last appointment, that's fine. You won't be lectured. The first visit is an honest look at where things stand and a plan you can actually follow.

The whole family

We see kids, parents and grandparents, often on the same afternoon. Children can start around the first birthday — early visits are short and easy, with fluoride and sealants when they help. The goal is a kid who thinks the dentist is no big deal.

Gum health

Bleeding gums are common, and they're not nothing: gum disease is the main reason adults lose teeth. Caught early it's very manageable — a deeper cleaning, a shorter recall cycle, and tracking the numbers at each visit. Grinding and night guards →

Common questions about cleanings & checkups

What if I haven't been in years?

You won't be lectured. We see it often, and the first visit is a clear look at where things stand.

When should a child first see the dentist?

Around the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short and easy.

Does a cleaning hurt?

It shouldn't. If your gums are tender or it's been a while, say so — numbing gel and a slower pace make a real difference.

Are dental x-rays safe?

Ours are digital, which uses a small fraction of the radiation of older film. We take them on a schedule based on your history and risk, not by default at every visit.

How often should I have my teeth cleaned?

Twice a year fits most people. Some gum conditions do better on a three- or four-month cycle. We'll recommend a schedule based on what we actually see, and explain why.

Do you take my insurance?

We're out of network with all plans, and we file your claim for you. With most plans we accept assignment of benefits, so you typically pay only your estimated copay at the visit. Fees and insurance in full →
